SK8GODAM is a platform connecting buyers and sellers for good quality second-hand and new skates and skate equipment shop listings.
Buyers are solely responsible for their own purchases, safety checks, and inspecting gear before use. Sellers are solely responsible for the gear they list, describe, and sell.
THE PLATFORM (SK8GODAM) IS IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY OF THESE ITEMS, GEAR QUALITY, CONDITION, SAFETY, OR TRANSACTIONS.
Because SK8GODAM does not accept, process, or escrow payments on the platform, we never collect, view, or store credit card numbers, debit cards, CVVs, bank account logins, or UPI PINs.
All financial settlements take place directly between buyers and sellers off-platform.
1. Information We Collect
To provide our skate equipment marketplace and connect buyers and sellers, we collect:
- Account Information: When you register an account, we collect your email address, username, phone number, and optional profile image (managed securely via our authentication engine).
- Listing & Media Content: Equipment photos (uploaded directly to our media storage via UploadThing), price in INR, equipment category (boots, frames, wheels, bearings, quad, protective gear), technical specs (e.g. wheel diameter, mount spacing, bearing standard), condition, description, and seller city/state.
- Negotiation & Activity Data: Bids, offer amounts, counter-offers, gear requests (“Wanted” / ISO posts), and community testimonials.
- Technical & Telemetry Data: IP addresses, browser type, device details, and error reports collected to maintain platform reliability, prevent spam bots, and enforce rate limits.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected data solely for the following purposes:
- Displaying skate gear listings and search results to skaters across India.
- Authenticating user access, verifying email addresses, and enabling password resets.
- Delivering transactional emails (such as bid notifications and account confirmations) via our email provider (Resend).
- Enabling direct buyer-seller interactions (such as opening pre-filled WhatsApp chats).
- Protecting the community from spam, abuse, scraping, and brute-force attacks via Upstash Redis rate-limiting.
- Diagnosing software errors and monitoring application performance.
3. Third-Party Infrastructure & Data Processors
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to data brokers or advertising networks. We only utilize trusted cloud infrastructure providers to run the platform:
- Hosting & Edge Delivery: Vercel (Next.js application hosting).
- Database: PostgreSQL (secure cloud database queried via Drizzle ORM).
- Image & Asset Vault: UploadThing (secure CDN for equipment photos and avatars).
- Security & Rate Limiting: Upstash Redis (caching and API rate-limiting).
- Transactional Email: Resend (delivering account verification and bid alerts).
- Analytics & Performance: PostHog, Vercel Analytics, Speed Insights, and Sentry.
4. Cookies & Local Storage
SK8GODAM uses essential cookies and local storage tokens strictly to maintain your authenticated session, preserve theme preferences, and gather anonymous performance telemetry. We do not use intrusive cross-site third-party tracking or behavioral advertising cookies.
5. Public vs. Private Information
- Publicly Visible: Your username, avatar, listed gear, gear photos, asking prices, city/state, active bids status, and published testimonials are visible to all users.
- Private: Your account password (which is strongly hashed), private email, and security logs are never displayed publicly.
- Direct Contact: When you choose to initiate a WhatsApp or phone conversation with a buyer or seller, your phone number and conversation will be subject to WhatsApp's and your telecom provider's privacy policies.
6. Data Retention & Your Rights
You retain full control over your data on SK8GODAM:
- You can edit, update, or remove your listings and gear requests at any time.
- You can request complete account deletion and data erasure by contacting our support team.
- Upon account deletion, your active listings, bids, and profile details will be removed from active indexes in accordance with our retention schedules.
